Swim Across Suttle

The  SWIM ACROSS SUTTLE open water swim will be taking place on Sunday August 25th at 8:00 am. The swim will begin at the Suttle Lake boat launch and finish at the day use area nearest Highway 20.  With a distance of 1.3 mile (2100 meters) from end to end, Suttle Lake is the perfect distance for triathletes preparing for a half iron distance event, a beginning swimmer, or the seasoned open water athlete.  With ample kayak support and a route that hugs the shoreline, competitors of all ability can be successful.

REGISTRATION: Registration is now open.  Please register soon.  We are limited to 100 spots this year.

WETSUIT vs NON-WETSUIT: In order to accommodate all competitors we will be having a wetsuit and non-wetsuit category.  We will be recognizing the winners, male and female in each category.

WATER TEMPERATURE: As of Monday, August 22, 2012 the water temperature at the Suttle Lake Picnic area is 70 degrees.

DIRECTIONS: From Sisters take Highway 20 heading west to Suttle Lake Recreation Area.  The turn off is on the left side of the highway. Allow 25 minutes from Sisters.  Suttle Lake is approximately fifteen miles east of Hoodoo ski area.

PARKING: A limited amount of parking is available at the Suttle Lake boat landing.  The majority of the parking is at the day use area at the finish of the race.  It is suggested to park at the day use area and walk the short mile to the beginning of the race on single track trail bordering the lake on the north side.  Please carry anything you need- at the start, you will be supplied with a drop bag that we will deliver back to the finish.  If you do choose to park at the boat landing we will transport your after-swim gear to the race finish.

SHUTTLE: The Sisters High School Outlaw Lacrosse team will be providing a shuttle for swim competitors.  Please be prepared to give a cash donation going directly to the Lacrosse team if you are planning on riding the shuttle. Your donation will go directly to student-athletes’ in need of financial support to play Lacrosse in Sisters.
